makoto kagoshima: day after day

This is the first large-scale exhibition of Makoto Kagoshima, potter and artist, who has garnered attention for his diverse works of ceramics, textiles, and prints. The gallery rooms will be lined with a variety of dishes featuring adorable depictions of animals and plants in rich colors on the “breakfast”, “lunch” and “dinner” table. Other products created through collaborations in various fields such as fashion, interior design, and food will be introduced in situations of daily life.

Makoto Kagoshima

b. 1967, Fukuoka
A graduate of the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Kagoshima began his career at NIC and The Conran Shop, two interior design shops where he gained experience in retail display and management. Since 2002, he has worked as a full-time artist from his atelier in Fukuoka City with a focus on ceramics, textiles, and printmaking. In recent years, Kagoshima has garnered a growing international following with solo exhibitions in Japan, Los Angeles, Taipei, and London.An avid collaborator with brands in Japan and beyond, Kagoshima’s designs can be found adorning products in mediums ranging from ceramics to fabric and paper.Outside of his studio practice, Kagoshima’s diverse body of work also extends to international art projects, murals, and more.
